TEMPE ARIZONA

Tempe is a landlocked city located in the Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. The city is bordered by Phoenix and Guadalupe in the west, Scottsdale in the north, Chandler on the south and Mesa on the east. The city is viewed as a center of education and commerce.

A visit to Tempe Town Lake: It is Arizona second-most visited tourist center with more than 2.4 million tourist spending time at the own lake each year. The Town Lake is located at the center of the city, stretching from west of McClintock Road to east of Priest Road. It also hosts many national and international events such as Ironman Arizona, Rock n Roll Marathon, Boat Parade and the state's largest Independence Day celebration.

A visit to Tempe Beach Park: A 25-acre park which is a perfect fit for outdoor fun and relaxation. The major site of attraction at the park is the Arizona’s first Olympic-sized pool which was built in the early 1920s. This hosted two women’s national championship swims and provided refreshment to local families.

A visit to Arizona State University Art Museum: The Art Museum is a house to more than 12,000 historic artIfacts. This is made up of art from Arizona and the south-western part of the United States. In the museum, you’ll find also find artworks by Latin America artists, mostly Mexican folk arts and ceramics. This museum offers a lot in terms of educational outreach programs and hosting important events during the year.

Tempe Sea Life Aquarium: The aquarium which measures about 26,000 square foot is a house to thousands of aquatic animals such as clownfish, jellyfish, lion fish and several species of sharks. An interesting part of the sea life Aquarium is the Interactive Rockpool where children can touch several aquatic creatures such as crabs and lobsters. The aquarium also serves the purpose of animal conservation, rescuing and caring of disabled and injured animals such as the endangered sea turtle.

Touring the Arizona State University Gammage Auditorium: This is a historic auditorium located on the south forest avenue of the university. It has a sitting capacity of 3,000, and it's known for its good acoustic and its collapsible orchestra shell. The auditorium hosts various activities such as operas, symphony concerts, organ recital, etc. the auditorium also hosted one of the three presidential debates in 2004.

A visit to the Sun Devil Stadium: This is a stadium located in the Arizona State University. With a seating capacity of 64,248, the stadium is also referred to as the House of Heat. The stadium is the home turf to the Arizona State Sun Devil, and it's a host of the annual Cactus Bowl. The stadium has also hosted numerous preseason games.

Visiting the Simply Smashing Rage Release Room: Located on the university drive is a Rage Release Room where people are allowed to vent their frustration and anger by smashing and breaking objects within a safe environment. It is made up of different sections such as a gym, therapy room, anger management room, and an amusement park. Each client has his/her favorite music played in the background for 25 minutes while he/she suppress their rage by breaking glassware, dishes, gadgets, car windshields, baseball bats, etc. Each participant must wear safety overalls and must be above the age of 18 to be admitted into the facility.

Tempe Market place: another place of interest in the city of Tempe is the market place. This is a large open-air shopping center. The market places measuring 130 acre consists of more than one million square feet dedicated to retail. It is characterized by more than 120 retails, restaurants and entertainment venues. The market place is divided into two areas: an outer ring that is made up of large retail stores and an inner ring which houses smaller shops. The inner ring is also known as the district. Located at the center of the inner ring, is a large courtyard where musical performance is held and a large screen showing local sporting events.

A visit to Papago Park: This is a hilly desert park which covers about 296 acres in Tempe. A distinct feature of this park is its geological formations and its wide varieties of desert plants. The park also houses the Desert Botanical Garden, a very large zoological garden, picnic areas, hiking trails, mountain biking, etc. the park is divided into east and west sides.

  • East side trails: On this side includes: Restrooms, drinking fountains, picnic ramadas, a short hike in the parks most popular scenic viewpoint, the Hole-in-the-rock. The gate roadways and parking areas are always open between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m, but the trails are open until 11 p.m.
  • West side trails: At this part of the park, available to tourists is an accessible, paved pathways as well as a set of trails and loops.  The gate roadways and parking areas are always in operation from sunrise to sunset while the trails are open until 11 p.m.
